inter-fas and its philosophy
The inter-fas network includes experts in strategy, corporate psychology, international business, systems thinking, finance, leadership development, industry research, philosophy and design. This virtual network of talented individuals is united by a common philosophy:
|
Human beings, as customers, employees, competitors, stakeholders, shareholders and custodians of the earth, are the wellspring from which all management decisions should emanate
|
What ails or stunts the growth of a corporation can be understood and healed
|
A management concept which focuses on only one area of the corporation will necessarily lead to disequilibrium and further decline
|
Sustainable growth is achieved by understanding the whole of the corporation. The corporate past, present and future, and all major groups with which it interfaces, must be built into its vision of the future |
We form a partnership with corporations who share the view that future markets and profits can be crafted with the positive engagement and benefit of all stakeholders.
inter-fas was founded in 1993 by Christopher Bates,
himself a hybrid of East and West. Bates has spent half his life working
in and for MNC corporations in Asia and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. His
concepts of strategy and corporate cultivation have been honed in this highly
competitive, fast moving business environment. They have also benefited
tremendously from his 30 years of training under masters of strategy in Asian
fighting arts.
Bates is the published author of two books on Asia, Culture Shock-Taiwan and The Wave Man. His "Strategic Vision" series of articles deals with pressing business issues as seen through the perspective of traditional combat strategy and training. They are available on the Communicate with inter-fas page.
The practical framework for managing corporations explained in inter-fas Holistic Corporate Management has gained the attention of international forums on management. Bates has twice been invited to speak before the New England Complex Systems Institute (NECSI) colloquium on Managing Complexity.
Bates has also been invited to speak at the Thunderbird Business Forum 2000, Cyberbranding 2000, Retailing Repackaged, Dot.Community Asia and other conferences.
The China Soft Drinks Market 1999 study conducted with IMES is an example of the type of comprehensive review of complex markets of which inter-fas is capable.
